Episode 200: Point of Light Discovery S2E3

Phillip Malerich joins Holly, Aaron, and David to discuss Star Trek Discovery episode three, Point of Light. Before we get into full spoilers for Point of Light we discuss the Anson Mount Tweet about he and Ethan Peck are looking for work. We mention our theory that Discovery will have revolving captains each season. Even if that isn’t the case. Discovery is between seasons and the actors could use some work between seasons. It’s our 200th episode and we go long this week’s episode with Ash/Voq, the klingons, Georgiou and Section 31 all making a comeback this week. We hope this week isn’t a one off and that it really is setting up the remainder of the season. Discovery season two continues to delight with call back to Star Trek 6 and to The Next Generation. Break out the bloodwine it’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek!

Holly is missing but David and Aaron must boldly continue on to discuss the first Star Trek reboot film, Star Trek the Star Trek. Before we get into the main topic this week we discuss the news that Michelle Yeoh may be getting her own Star Trek spin off. Also this week the latest Short Trek is out unfortunately Aaron has not seen it but David has and he gives this thoughts on the second short trek.

It has been a while since we have discussed a Star Trek movie on the podcast and since we have covered both into darkness and Star Trek Beyond, Star Trek 2009 seems like a good choice. While we both enjoyed this film for what it is, Aaron and David are both a little more worried now about the future of Star Trek on TV with Alex Kurtzman at the helm. This episode has a great surprise guest actor who’s popped up in Star Trek before, that was such a joy to see. Michaels actions in The Vulcan Hello come full circle in this episode and she stands up for federation ideals! Aaron and David are both extremely excited to see where things will go in season two. Aaron and David are back to discuss the latest Star Trek Discovery Episode The War Without, The War Within. The Discovery has jumped back from the Mirror Universe nine months into the future. Admiral Cornwell beams over to point a phaser at Saru and to chat with L’Rell.

The klingons are winning the war, the federation has lost one third of its fleet. So now in the federations most desperate hour it’s time to play mushroom farmville. Discovery needs it’s spores to go on an insane mission in next week’s season finale of Star Trek Discovery! Oh and uh Dude where’s my Red matter?

In addition to the celebrities, we were also able to speak with artists and con goers who were attending the convention to ask their thoughts about the Star Trek Discovery trailer that just aired last week.
