Aaron is back this week with Holly and David to discuss both parts of The Menagerie the Star Trek Original series two part episode. With Captain Pike being all the rage after Star Trek Discovery’s second season we thought we would go back to where Spock decides to take after his sister and stage a mutiny. Spock does this to help his former captain live a better life since his unfortunate radiation bath he had on a Crossfield class starship filled with clueless cadets. We discuss our thoughts on this classic two part episode as well as how we feel about it now within the larger context of discovery and knowing the character of captain pike so much better then we did before. Pour yourself a big stiff drink things are about to get silly on your weekly shot of Star Trek.

This week there is some light news about the new Picard show, Patrick Stewart has red the script he is said to of enjoyed it and shooting for the show starts in April. In this episode we find out who the red angel is….. Or do we? Or is the switcharoo a red herring. I guess we fill find out next week? Unfortunately Guy is here for another exposition episode instead of a more plot heavy episode. In this episode section 31 comes to hang out with Discovery to try to capture the red angel. They need to set a mousetrap where Michael is the bait to catch herself maybe? What do you think Red Angels like to drink? Holly is missing but David and Aaron must boldly continue on to discuss the first Star Trek reboot film, Star Trek the Star Trek. Before we get into the main topic this week we discuss the news that Michelle Yeoh may be getting her own Star Trek spin off. Also this week the latest Short Trek is out unfortunately Aaron has not seen it but David has and he gives this thoughts on the second short trek.

It has been a while since we have discussed a Star Trek movie on the podcast and since we have covered both into darkness and Star Trek Beyond, Star Trek 2009 seems like a good choice. While we both enjoyed this film for what it is, Aaron and David are both a little more worried now about the future of Star Trek on TV with Alex Kurtzman at the helm.
