What happens when transporter accidents don’t kill you? Aaron and David are here to recount the ballad of Thomas Riker. Some fates are worse than death, like being stuck alone for 8 years to find out that you actually did make it out. You could also be pining for a woman for 8 years just to find out she only wants to be friends. Or you could steal the most advanced federation warship and then turn yourself over to the Cardassians to work the rest of your days in a labor camp. You could also be promised a daring rescue by a woman who forgets about you when she falls in love with a changeling. The Ballad of Thomas Riker is one paved with much sorrow and regret!

But before we jump into Star Trek The Next Generation episode “Second Chances” and the DS9 episode “Defiant” we have some more exciting star trek news to talk about! We had a great time talking with our guests about the passion and attention to detail that makes Star Trek Continues come alive, and how emotionally charged the series finale was.

Last time James and Kipleigh joined us on the show they teased an upcoming project called When the Train Stops today we get to hear Lisa expand a bit on the project. We learn who the principal actors will be and that the film will have a twilight zone like feel to it. The conversation with James, Kipliegh and Lisa was fantastically fun and we hope you all enjoy your weekly shot of Star Trek!

The first chapter of season one comes to a close, luckily the wait won’t be too long for the second chapter of season one! Everything about the episode is fantastic, the writing, the acting, the terrific fight scene it all comes together for an absolutely fantastic mid season finale! Along the way Chris asks some great questions from his perspective as someone new to Star Trek. These are two fascinating episodes of Star Trek and bring up interesting moral dilemmas such as; are holograms actual life forms, at what point does artificial intelligence become sentient, and are their any safeguards being considered to prevent this from happening? The Nickel City Con was such a blast this year, Aaron was at his table for Numina Comics and David was able to host a panel with Erin Gray. In addition to the celebrities, we were also able to speak with artists and con goers who were attending the convention to ask their thoughts about the Star Trek Discovery trailer that just aired last week. We got to hear from a variety of people ranging from non fans of Star Trek all the way up to people in full on Star Trek cosplay. We hope you enjoy this week’s comic con shot of Star Trek!

This week we are taking the Traveler! This is our first themed episode in quite some time! The Traveler appeared in three episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation over the seven seasons of the series. We briefly talk about the trek news before diving into the myth and lore behind the Traveler and his three fingers special! Ironically both Aaron and David didn’t remember the Traveler’s appearance in the episode Remember Me. The Traveler also appears in Where no one has gone before and Journey’s End. We speculate about Wesley’s origin and how it may tie into this character! We also talk about how creepy The Traveler seems to be. Are you thirsty?
