Episode 205: If Memory Serves Discovery S2E8

Captain Stuart Foley from Trekyards joins Aaron and David this week to discuss If Memory Serves the latest episode of the second season of Star Trek Discovery. If Memory Serves is the mother of all call back episodes reaching far back to the unaired pilot The Cage. Before we get into the episode Stuart lets us know what’s new with Trekyards and we discuss some news we forgot to mention last week. This week Michael and Spock head to Talos IV and meet Vina and the Talosians. Section 31 tries to keep Discovery from meeting up with Spock and Michael and when everything is said and done the crew of the USS Discovery is now on the run. We also discuss Talosian retirement and the founding of Risa! Get ready for a mind trip, grab yourself some everclear because it’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek!

Guy Davis is back, he joins Holly, Aaron, and David to discuss Light and Shadows the seventh episode of the second season of Star Trek Discovery. Before we take our deep drive into the episode we have news regarding the character descriptions of the new characters appearing in the Picard show. The descriptions of the characters remind Aaron and David of the Star Trek Renegades fan film. This week’s episode splits the party with Michael going looking for spock while the crew of the Discovery deals with a temporal anomaly. This episode is a great set up for what is to come. In this week’s episode we have a strange life form that traps the Discovery, we learn a little bit more about the spore May and we also get some Michael and Saru bonding time. This week we get our first planetary away mission since the opening of “The Vulcan Hello”, more Klingons, and Admiral Cornwell! Saru is leading the landing party and much of the episode is a character study on our Kelpien officer as we start to learn much more about him. We only have one more episode until the midseason finale and this Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum feels like the first part of a two or three part episode.
