Arron, Holly, and David are back this week to talk the TNG Episode Realm of Fear! No Star Trek news this week but the next Short Trek will be out before we record next week so we should of that to talk about next week. Realm of Fear is one of the Next Generation Episodes that features Dwight Schultz as Barclay! Barclay is one of our favorite recurring characters in Star Trek, so it’s about time we do an episode that is all about him.

In this episode we learn Barclay has an extreme and possibly irrational fear of being transported. Barclay must overcome his fears to help solve the mystery about what happened to the USS Yosemite. Because this episode focuses on his fear that seems to be on the irrational side we get into a discussion on what some of our irrational fears are! Robbie from The Nerdynomicon Podcast joins us to discuss the trailer before beaming out. The first Short Trek Runaway is out and we got full spoilers on it. I Borg is a fantastic episode involving the borg and deals with the moral questions of how we may view our enemies. Ender’s Game is the first book in a sci-fi series from the 80’s that was made into movie in 2013. Aaron and Holly break down the movie and discuss the similarities and differences between the book and the film adaptation. Michael chimes in to give his takes on the military aspects of the film. Aaron also brings to light some of the controversy author Orson Scott Card got caught up in that probably ended up making the movie not as successful as it could of been. Episode 181: In a Mirror, Darkly

Last week Holly had some burning questions about the Tholians, so Aaron and David join Holly and  we take a look at the next time we see the Tholians “In a Mirror, Darkly”! Before we get into the episode Aaron has some news from the Star Trek Discovery cast fresh out of Fan Expo. “In a Mirror, Darkly” is a two part episode in Star Trek Enterprise’s fourth season. In this two parter we find out what happens with the Defiant after it was lost in interphasic space.

Oddly enough it ends up in the mirror universe 100 years in the past. After seeing Star Trek Discovery we all kind of scratch our heads at some of the actions that happen between the characters in this two parter. It seems at this time in the mirror universe everyone’s a little less murdery. Because there are multiple times in these episodes where character fight but they just let the loser live once they are beaten. But all in all we enjoyed “In a Mirror, Darkly”. Pour yourself a Gorn drink it’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek!

Before we get into the episode discussion Jeff talks to us about Film Dumpster and what they do there. San Diego Comic Con was this past week so we talk the trailers for Star Trek Discovery and The Orville season 2.

Jeff is a big fan of time travel so Time’s Arrow was a great episode to talk about. In this episode the crew of the enterprise go back in time to stop these soul sucking aliens and to find out why they found a 500 year old Data head. In this adventure they meet up with Ginun of the past, Jack London, and Mark Twain! Time to make yourself an Old Fashioned it’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek!

Alex Kurtzman will be taking over as showrunner so Aaron and I also discuss our thoughts on that as well.

Did you ever think the USS Enterprise could or would have a sense of humor? It’s not something I have ever thought about but apparently some people did back in the 70s and this is how we got The Practical Joker! This week Aaron and David discuss the comings and goings of Picard’s favorite Holodeck character Dixon Hill! We were surprised to only find four times where Picard steps into the role of Dixon Hill. The first and most substantial appearance of the character was in The Next Generation season one episode “The Big Goodbye”. Dixon Hill also shows up in the season two episode “Manhunt” the season four episode “Clues” and probably makes the most memorable appearance in the film Star Trek First Contact.

Dixon Hill is a fun character to see Picard play and he is so memorable we could of swore he came up in TNG more often. Be sure to put your drinks on Dixon’s tab at Rex’s Bar, it’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek.
