But there were a few we definitely got into some debate over whether or not the prime directive was broken or not. Episode 126: Cause and Effect with Joe DePinto live from STLV

This week we talk Cause and Effect with Joe DePinto live from STLV. STLV is the Star Trek Las Vegas convention it is the largest Star Trek Con in the United States. Since Joe was still at the convention when we recorded this week he tells us what he has been up to at the con.

The stories from the con are great and one of Joe’s favorite episodes is the Star Trek The Next Generation episode Cause and Effect. This is a very fun episode that uses time travel in a new way for its time. If you think this is a copy of Groundhog Day this episode actually came out first!

Once we break down the episode we get into a discussion about our experiences with Déjà vu. The talk of Déjà vu makes David think of his fascination with the mandela effect. We go over a few examples of this effect and what the theory of how so many people can have false memories. Grab your favorite drink and your cards it’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek!

The Traveler appeared in three episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation over the seven seasons of the series. We briefly talk about the trek news before diving into the myth and lore behind the Traveler and his three fingers special! Ironically both Aaron and David didn’t remember the Traveler’s appearance in the episode Remember Me. The Traveler also appears in Where no one has gone before and Journey’s End. We speculate about Wesley’s origin and how it may tie into this character! We also talk about how creepy The Traveler seems to be. Are you thirsty? When David is missing Aaron and Guy talk Giant cats and comics! This week Synthaholics goes into a deep dive on the Star Trek the animated series episode The Slaver Weapon. What would you put into a time capsule if you knew everything in it would be perfectly preserved? Lets hope it wouldn’t be a selfie, raw meat, and a swiss army gun. But if you did the Kzinti would probably appreciate it. This is one of two episodes where we ever see the Kzinti a bipedal cat like race who is bent on uncovering something to overthrow the federation. Once Aaron and Guy finish talking The Slaver weapon they get into a discussion about Guy’s Star Trek comic the USS Tamerlane. This leads to a segue to a Star Trek The Wrath of Khan and to Star Trek Nemesis! Anything and everything in this week’s episode of Synthaholics!

Justice is a not bad episode but it is a fairly silly episode with lots of barely dressed beautiful people who’s only punishment for being naughty isn’t a spanking it’s death! The prime directive gets evoked quite a bit in Justice so once we finish talking about the episode we discus the prime directive itself and why they shouldn’t of ever visited the Edo world in the first place.
