Synthaholics Episode 118: Wild Hologram Virtuoso

Have you seen the Wild Hologram Virtuoso? This week we talk about the Star Trek Voyager Episode Virtuoso where the doctor gets a bit wild to the point of resigning his commission to be a professional singer to a race that finds him to be a primitive holo matrix. After hearing Erin Gray audition for Janeway on Voyager David can’t watch Voyager without thinking about that. Aaron brings up what it must be like for the doctor where none of his friends seem to appreciate his other talents and skill other than doctoring. So we both talk times in our life where our talents may not have been appreciated. This discussion leads into some thoughts about our education system as a whole. Virtuoso brings up some of the same thoughts and ideas about the personhood and the sentience of holographic beings that were brought out last week on Holograms Gone Wild. Synthaholics Episode 116: Star Trek DS9 The Jem’Hadar

This week we talk the Star Trek DS9 episode The Jem’Hadar. This is the season two finale for Deep Space Nine and and our first good look at two of the major players for the Dominion, the Jem’Hadar and the Vorta! But before we talk The Jem’Hadar we reflect on our weekend at Nickel City Con and talk a little bit more about our experience there as well.David wildly speculates about Voyager after mentioning the segment you all heard last week with Erin Gray. The Dominion the Vorta and the Jem’Hadar seem wildly overpowered and are scarier in this episode then they seem to be going forward. To wrap up we also talk bridge design pointing out the Enterprise and Odyssey have different bridges so it’s totally feasible for the USS Shenzhou’s bridge to look very different from the pike era Enterprise. Make sure you prep your jambalaya before you go camping, and don’t forget the alcohol! It’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek!

This week we were honored to get to talk with Nichelle Nichols, J.G. Hertzler, and Erin Gray at Nickel City Con! The Nickel City Con was such a blast this year, Aaron was at his table for Numina Comics and David was able to host a panel with Erin Gray. In addition to the celebrities, we were also able to speak with artists and con goers who were attending the convention to ask their thoughts about the Star Trek Discovery trailer that just aired last week. We got to hear from a variety of people ranging from non fans of Star Trek all the way up to people in full on Star Trek cosplay. We hope you enjoy this week’s comic con shot of Star Trek!

Voyager is the Light Bringer, Earth Shaker is this season six episode of Star Trek Voyager: Blink of an Eye. Aaron and David are sticking to their promise to bring you more voyager in 2017! This week we give Harry Kim a break since he barely appears in this episode! We enjoyed this episode about really bad science because it let us get to know the planet as it aged and the people that inhabited the planet and how its mythos was build all around the Light Bringer and Earth Shaker! It is interesting how myths and stories form a culture and we talk a little bit how things of old have their place in our culture.
