We finally make it to planet Arrakis! Man, is it hot here! And DRY! Lady Jessica unpacks an old portrait of Leto’s father and a mounted bull’s head. Later Jessica meets her new servant Shadout Mapes. Jessica correctly identifies a strange knife, calling it a “Maker”. Next Jessica has a somewhat normal discussion with Dr. Yueh about Arrakeen politics, extravagant water use, Jessica and Leto’s marriage and Yueh’s dead wife. All the while Yueh still plots to betray the Atreides. Grab a plate of Spice Melange and kick back while listening to our book breakdown of Frank Herbert’s DUNE! The Spice must flow!
