  1. I think Alan Rickman’s character was also analogous to Patrick Stewart, who really was a Shakespearian stage actor who was slightly embittered initially towards playing a sci-fi role. Sir Alec Guinness could be another reason that the parody of the former-stage-actor-turned-sci fi-actor parody worked so well.
