“Scavengers” is the sixth episode of season three of Star Trek Discovery and the Synthaholics found this episode rather enjoyable. It was a lot of fun and it had some crazy good effects even for Star Trek Discovery. We finally may have a clue to what the burn is but we don’t know for sure yet. Hopefully we will find out next week if this week’s MacGuffin pays off. Is anyone else feeling like this season of Discovery is kind of like the movies where the even numbered episodes are head and shoulders above the odd number episodes? What’s up with Georgiou did Cronenburg do something to her? Or is this something unrelated? It’s time to pour yourself a cold glass of Romulan Ale, for your weekly shot of Star Trek!
Aaron has escaped this transporter accident and he joins David to discuss “Die Trying” the fifth episode of the third season of Star Trek Discovery. This episode started off strong with a nice captains log and a brief look at some new StarFleet ships. We see the USS Nog, the Voyager – J, and what they called a new version of the constitution class. The StarFleet Admiral isn’t too happy to have the time traveling crew but that’s nothing a classic fetch quest can’t fix. We were hoping to see some answers this week as we finally have our crew of the USS Discovery back in the heart of the federation but “Die Trying” has no answers and just leaves us with more questions. Emperor Georgou and her debriefing hold some of the most interesting things said and not said in this episode. We can’t wait to find out what all that is about. It’s time to pour yourself a cold glass of Romulan Ale, for your weekly shot of Star Trek!
Long time friend of the show Natalie Schlichtmann joins David this week to discuss “Forget Me Not” the fourth episode of season three of Star Trek Discovery. Aaron has unfortunately been caught in a transporter beam with poor Franklin. Natalie and David both enjoy the great Trill call back getting to spend some time with some familiar aliens is always fun. We also hope we get to run into more familiar races later on in the season. We also muse on where the season will go and our hopes for this season and beyond for Star Trek Discovery. This week is our last bread crumb until we find our way to the Federation. We can’t wait to see what happens next week. It’s time to pour yourself a cold glass of Romulan Ale, for your weekly shot of Star Trek!
Aaron and David are here to discuss “People of Earth”, the third episode of Star Trek Discovery Season 3. After hugs and tears the reunited crew of the USS Discovery and book head to earth. Things are a lot different than they expected them to me. Earth provides for itself and doesn’t seem to know what’s going on beyond its atmosphere. This has us scratching our heads as to why this would be. On the bright side we meet a young human named Adira who has a trill symbiont inside of her. Adira seems pretty interesting and we are looking forward to what happens with the Trill. Will Adira keep it? WIll she be able to unlock all the memories of the symbiont? Hopefully we will find out next week. It’s time to pour yourself a cold glass of Romulan Ale, for your weekly shot of Star Trek!
Aaron and David welcome past guest and friend of the show Joe DePinto to discuss “Far From Home”, the second episode of Star Trek Discovery Season 3. But first we have news that Star Trek Discovery is renewed for a fourth season, and creation is no longer doing the official Star Trek convention anymore. The upcoming Las Vegas Trek conventions have to be unofficial. “That Hope is You” featured michels time coming out of the worm hole this week we get to see what happens with Discovery as it comes out of the worm hole. Overall we really enjoyed this episode. What is going on with Keyla Detmer? Is she the latest crewmember to be infected by control? Or does she just have a concussion? Is control really dead? Am I asking too many questions? It’s time to pour yourself a cold glass of Romulan Ale, for your weekly shot of Star Trek!
Episode 287: Star Trek Discovery “That Hope Is You, Part 1”
Aaron and David are back this week to discuss “That Hope is You, Part 1” the first episode of season 3 of Star Trek Discovery. This episode will contain spoilers. The episode is mostly carried by Sonequa Martin-Green who shows a huge range in her acting ability. While the story is mostly a fun chase sequence. We start off giving some non spoiler thoughts of the first episode before we get into deep spoilers. The 930 year jump Discovery has made the future opens up so many possibilities for where the season could go. It will be very interesting to see where it could go and we do some speculation on where the larger story could go and when we think we will see the rest of the crew. What do you think where this future story is heading? Could the temporal cold war still be causing issues? Only time will tell. It’s time to pour yourself a cold glass of Romulan Ale, for your weekly shot of Star Trek!
Phillip Malerich joins Aaron and David to discuss Such Sweet Sorrow Part 2 the season finale of Star Trek Discovery Season 2. Holly was once again was abducted by the Red Angels so she was unable to participate in the discussion this week. Most of the Star Trek news this week is related to the ending of Such Sweet Sorrow so we wait to the end of the episode to discuss this week’s news. Beware this episode contains full spoilers for Such Sweet Sorrow Part 2 and the second season of Star Trek Discovery Season 2. On many levels this episode is pretty much what we expected it to be. The biggest surprise to us was the lack of any real clear cliffhanger. The ending also felt like a great opener for a Captain Pike and Number One seres. This is something we discuss after we talk about our thoughts on the Second Season of Star Trek Discovery. I wonder what alcoholic drinks Kelpian X-wing pilots enjoy? If you have any ideas let us know, it’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek!
Aaron, Holly, and David are all together to discuss Such Sweet Sorrow the second to last episode of the second season of Star Trek Discovery. Much like season one of Star Trek Discovery this episode does a lot to set up what will happen in the finale while withholding all the action for the finale. Even though this is the case it is an episode full of character moments for character other than Michael and we get a great look at the updated Enterprise bridge and it is a truly beautiful sight to behold.
We are all looking forward to see next week’s episode to see how the wrap up the season. There are a ton of possibilities many of which could be very exciting. Once we finish the episode discussion we have a bit of a PSA at the end to clarify our thoughts on Star Trek and Discovery as a whole. Break out your finest wine and have a toast for parting is such sweet sorrow. It’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek!
