Aaron, David, and Holly share our thoughts on Critical Mass and Leviathan Wakes, although Holly only joins the boys briefly this week. The Expanse keeps getting better and better, and we end up discussing what 10 episodes of the expanse did from a story standpoint vs. what Picard did over 10 episodes; honestly, the comparison is stark. In our next two chapters of Dune our fearless leader Duke Leto stews over the Harkonnen’s attempt on his son’s life. He also enlists Gurney to recruit as much of the help as they can to assist in mining the spice to get production rolling again. Later Paul gets to attend his very first staff meeting on Dune where they all get the low down on profit margins and the status of the mining equipment. This week David, Aaron and Guy break away from the Expanse to talk about current issues. Warning: this episode we do get very political! As our country struggles with the issues of race and equality we dive into a classic Deep Space Nine episode. In this story the Prophets transport Sisko to the 1950s. Sisko becomes Benny Russell, a science-fiction writer that struggles with civil rights and inequality. When Benny writes his best story of Captain Benjamin Sisko a black commander of a futuristic space station. Benny is met with resistance to his story. This story echoes what we are seeing today and we break down our feelings and views of these issues in depth. It isn’t the easiest listen. Reality can be harsh. So pour yourself a strong drink. Enjoy together responsibly!

Jessica correctly identifies a strange knife, calling it a “Maker”. Next Jessica has a somewhat normal discussion with Dr. Yueh about Arrakeen politics, extravagant water use, Jessica and Leto’s marriage and Yueh’s dead wife.
